Dubai: The Indian football team returns to the field after a long break. In the friendly match, Oman will be the opponent. The match will be played on Thursday at 7.15 pm at the Maktoum Bin Rashid Stadium in Dubai.
India is playing with the strength of youngsters. Coach Igor Stemacht has included in the 27-member squad most of the youngsters who have excelled in the Indian Super League.
So far, India has played 11 matches under Stimach. He has one win, four draws, and six defeats.
The current team is a continuation of Stemach's efforts to mold a new team with young players.
The youngsters will be important in the team against Oman. In the absence of Sunil Chhetri, the new forward and the midfield, which has a majority of newcomers, can move forward if they play well.
If the team plays in a 4-2-3-1 style, Manveer Singh will be the lone striker. In midfield, Rowlin Borges, Aniruddha Thapa, and Apuya will play. Wing Lalian Sula Changte and Aashiq Kuruniyan will be down. In defense, captain Sandesh Ginga and Preetham Kotal will be in central defense. Ashutosh Mehta and Aakash Mishra are likely to be the wing-backs. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu and Amarinder Singh will play as goalkeepers in both halves.
