A day earlier, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had postponed its Bangladesh tour. After this, the way for English players to play in the IPL was cleared. Three ODIs and as many T20 series were to be played between England and Bangladesh in September-October. But both the cricket boards have postponed this series till March 2023 with mutual consent.

Morgan is currently playing for the London Spirit team in The Hundred. On Tuesday, his team was defeated by Northern Superchargers. After this match, he confirmed that he intends to captain KKR in the remaining matches of the IPL. However, he told other England players included in the IPL teams that whether to join the league after the suspension of the Bangladesh tour is a personal decision of the players.

"Benefit the English players to play in the IPL," he said, to take part in the League of England's players will be a personal decision. England has to play 2 T20s from Pakistan in October, the T20 World Cup will start in UAE on October 17. Earlier, England would now be able to play only two T20s. He has to play two T20Is against Pakistan on October 14 and 15. Both ECB and PCB are confident that this tour will be completed as per the schedule. However, in the meantime, the final of the IPL is also to be played on October 15. In such a situation, problems can arise for those English players, whose team reaches the final of the IPL.
