1. The real name of Neem Karoli Baba was Laxminarayan Sharma. He was born around 1900 in Akbarpur village of Uttar Pradesh. He attained enlightenment at the age of 17. His father's name was Durga Prasad Sharma. Baba was married at the age of 11.
2. In 1958, Baba left his home and started roaming all over North India like a sadhu. During that time he was known by many names including Lakshman Das, Handi Wale Baba, and Tikoniya Wale Baba. When he did penance in Vavaniya Morbi, Gujarat, he was called by the name of Talaiya Baba.
3. Once Baba was traveling in the first class compartment. When the ticket checker came, Baba did not have a ticket. Then Baba was dropped off from the train at the next station 'Nib Karoli'. Baba sat at a distance by burying his stick in the earth. Officials ordered the train to run and the guard flagged off the train, but the train did not move even an inch from its place.

When the train didn't work even after many efforts, the local magistrate who knew Baba asked the officials to apologize to Baba and bring him inside respectfully. Others on the train also supported the magistrate. The officials apologized to Baba and made him sit on the train respectfully. The train started moving as soon as Baba sat on the train. Since then Baba's name was Neem Karoli. There are hundreds of miracles of Neem Karoli Baba.
4. Baba Neem Karauli came here for the first time in 1961 at Kainchi Dham near Nainital, Uttarakhand and he along with his old friend Purnanand Ji thought of building an ashram here. Baba Neem Karauli established this ashram in 1964.
5. Neem Karoli Baba's Samadhi Sthal is in Pantnagar near Nainital. This is a place where if anyone goes with a wish, he does not return empty-handed. Baba's Samadhi Sthal is also here. A grand idol of Baba Neem Karauli has also been installed here. There is also an idol of Hanumanji here.

9. Baba Neem Karauli Maharaj has two sons and one daughter. The eldest son Anek Singh lives with his family in Bhopal, while the junior son Dharam Narayan Sharma was a ranger in the forest department. Recently he passed away.
